It was founded in 1987 by Dr Milo D Siewert to regulate the practice and ethics of the practitioners. It became a mutual self-governing body in 1990, and is the lead organisation for colon hydrotherapy in the U.K. It has set the standards for training and practice of Colon Hydrotherapy in the U.K. and accepts students from various Colleges that have been accredited by the Association.
This NCCH course is accredited by ARCH, and graduate students are eligible to apply for membership.

Its members have been from 2010 independently regulated by the government supported CNHC, underlining ARCH members professionalism and high standards of training and practice.
